Neal Beidleman's recollections on Longs Peak Triathlon with Kevin Cooney

On the Diamond deal (actually Aug 10, 1990, not '88), we had a small rack of gear carried in by friends to Chasm lake. We soloed the N. Chimney, belayed the whole route (did a couple of moving belays to make the pitch lengths work out better) and scrambled to the summit. We left the gear with them at Chasm view. Roughly, the ride in was 2:37hrs plus change over, run and switch to climbing mode was 1:21hrs, climb from base of lower wall to summit was 3:30hrs, run out was 1:16hrs, and ride back was 1:35hrs for 10:30. All the rest of the time was in change over time, talking to the ranger and we waited on Yellow Wall ledge for 20 minutes because a party was on the crux pitch ahead of us. The ride is 86 total miles, the run 13 RT with 8000' total elevation gain making it "The Perfect 100 Miler, 5.10, V).
